I have two New Year’s predictions. Number one is that Pete Hegseth will be the first Cabinet-level sacrificial lamb of the Trump regime. You might recall one of my earlier posts back in April where I wrote that nothing during Trump 2.0 was left to chance. The very first test was Hegseth for Secretary of Defense. Even with a trunk full of truly disqualifying baggage (holy wars, adultery and alcoholism just for starters), the spineless GOP Senate said, “Yes, please. Let’s have more.” That proved not only Trump could nominate literally anyone and they would get approved but it also proved the Senate was owned. So they went on to approve every last one of the nausea-inducing nominees including Kennedy, Dr. Oz, WWE lady, and even puppy-shooting Noem.

But Pistol Pete is now a real liability. As in war criminal-level liability. As in top military brass-distrusting liability. So, he will “resign” or “transfer” with a platinum parachute. Just a matter of time.

Which brings us to Kristi Noem. She almost got the boot with the drownings in Texas. But her Cruella Deville performances with ICE kept her in Trump’s good graces. Now, however, she has also become a liability. Not for cruelty or dishonesty; no, Trump and the regime thrive on cruelty and dishonesty. No Noem won’t last because no one takes her seriously anymore. Sucking up is all well and good but ludicrous statements during nationally televised events? “You kept the hurricanes away. Thank you for that.” Plus Kristi is knee-deep in some corruption on multiple fronts which distracts from the great distractor himself. So she’s probably next after Hegseth.

Not to celebrate either of these Cabinet cleansings. The replacements will be worse. Perhaps Michael Flynn for Secretary of Defense and one of the pardoned drug kingpins for Secretary of Homeland Security. Or whoever gives Trump a cool $500 mill gets their pick of Cabinet positions. Because that’s how this administration is run.
