Seismic Musings

First, the good news. Even though rain was predicted; even though there were thunderstorms in the distance; even though it was on a weekday when most people are working and we started at 4 PM; and even though it was brutally hot; we had close to 100 people come out for a Good Trouble rally yesterday afternoon. A huge thank you to everyone that came to our as well as other protests yesterday.

On the disturbing front, by now you have undoubtedly heard that the Colbert Show will be discontinued as of May next year. I would give it a 90% chance that this was part of the cave by CBS to suck up to Donald Trump so Larry Ellison’s son can take over the network. Oh, it might not be in the written agreement, but it was part of the agreement because Trump doesn’t just want money he wants revenge. We have never had a president this vindictive in our history. Not even close.

Go ahead and Google whether any president has blackmailed a media outlet or news organization. Ask ChatGPT as well. The only other instance that blackmail occurred was under Nixon, who was forced to resign. There is no precedent for a president threatening to revoke licenses through the FEC just because they don’t like the reporting of a news organization.

In related news, our President has threatened a new round of lawsuits over his bestie, Jeffery Epstein. The Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch are his next targets for publishing a letter Trump may or may not have sent to Epstein. Letter or not, there are so many questionable connections between our President and Jeffery Epstein it is mind-boggling. I will do a follow-up post today about Epstein and some facts you might not know if you aren’t a lawyer.
